EXCLUSIVE: Findlay Brown cover of The Black Ghosts

Sooooooo... I was going through my iTunes earlier and found an "untagged" acoustic version of "It's Your Touch" by The Black Ghosts. I knew it wasn't Simon Lord singing and Oli from This Is Music confirmed I was correct. It's actually Findlay Brown. As far as I'm aware this song has not been posted before (at least on The Hype Machine) SO I am very proud to present Findlay Brown covering "It's Your Touch"!

I'd love to hear your comments. Thanks again to Oli, and keep your ears open, I'll be back soon!

HEADS WE DANCE remix Depeche Mode cover!

Man, all my old school Arcadian friends are coming out of the woodwork! First South Central now Heads We Dance... we only need one more person to pop by to complete the original three bands that composed the original line up of the "Arcadian Family" (cough *Vincentwhoisquitebusy* cough)...

This is gonna be a wicked post because Heads We Dance have done a crazy awesome remix of Red Blooded Girls covering Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence"! I was just watching that video for "Wrong" (the new Depeche Mode song for those of you who didn't catch it being splattered all over the various interwebs) and I think it's good... Can't wait to read "Best one since Violator" in the music press, right? Happens EVERY album lol...

Back to the matter at hand...

Yoni from HWD contacted me this morning, with this gem, and has this to say...
"We've gone for a bit of a Pet Shop Boys vibe on it - inspired by their winning of the Brit Lifetime achievement award!"

Red Blooded Girls- "Enjoy The Silence (Heads We Dance Remixx)"

Indeed it does have that sound... like I've never been able to imagine this as a PSB song but now I can... even if it is girls singing :) I look forward to hearing more from them.

As far as our dear remixers, this band never manages to do anything wrong! I mean, look at their cover of "Computer Love"... covering Kraftwerk has been a big mistake for a lot of people, but not only did they manage to make the song their own, they made it sound exciting for the first time I can recall since the original (yeah Coldplay they did a better job by merely covering it, not 'interpolating' it or whatever you call that). Heads We Dance are a band that deserve the hype they get because "The Human Touch" has been one of the few songs to earn the distinction of "actually as good as Daft Punk"... plus "My Heart Is Set On You" has become a classic in the Arcadia/Albion frequently played setlist... I mean these guys would have to tank hard to not end up being one of the most respected indie dance bands this decade with material this fresh, and I don't see that happening any time soon.

In case you forgot Heads We Dance are now on This Is Fake DIY Records...

Holy Fuck... this is awesome... Klaxons hip-hop Dalliance!

Well we heard that Klaxons wanted to work with Dr Dre. And some people thought that would be awesome (including myself) but the likelihood of that happening is probably rather slim... (their closest hip-hop collabo so far was the one I blogged about back during Pitchfork Festival with Cadence Weapon *pictured above... I searched forever for a picture of them together and then found it on their Flickr lol*)...

BUT NOW THIS DREAM HAS BEEN PARTIALLY REALIZED! A BBC Covers album is coming out with loads of covers including Klaxons cover of Blackstreet's "No Diggity" (which was, of course, produced by Dr Dre). It is quite simply the fucking most awesome idea that has come to fruition in quite sometime. They are heading into second album territory and we need things like this to whet out palate until we get to hear that...

So I now present to you, my friends, in all of it's radio ripped 128kbps sounding glory, the cover...

Klaxons- "No Diggity (Blackstreet Cover/Radio Rip)"

Klaxons- "No Diggity (Blackstreet Cover/Radio Rip)" YSI

Now you say to yourself, "Why is this asshole giving us a radio rip and not the song in it's full glory?"... first off, I don't have it... second off, if I did I wouldn't post it... I really really like the Klaxons and want them to make money! My blog is not about depriving people of income it's about promoting bands I like (so BBC when you come here to kick my ass lay off please)... when the covers album comes out make sure you pick it up! There are TONS of other artists like Hard-Fi, Maximo Park, The Fratellis, etc that you (the discerning 'Arcadia' reader) will probably love if not at least be entertained by!

This was a surprise post I didn't even intend on making but once I found this I KNEW you guys would want to hear it! Check back soon for more interviews and more awesome tracks.. until next time!
