Well... I have to assume I've been hexed!

Sorry about the lack of posts kids... I have a tooth that is so severely infected/rotting/dying WHATEVER that I can barely even do normal simple things or function. This means that time on the computer has been pretty slim (you'd think it would be more but no)...

I've got some really good stuff to post... but it's gonna take at least til later for me to post it. So please bare with me. If you happen to really want tickets for Lollapalooza, I may be selling them soon here! Let's hope the doctor can sort me out.

BE RIGHT BACK...

Juggling everything on earth... (Mackaveli, ddpesh, Burial, Neon Neon, Esser)

Whoa. Everything has been extra crazy with sugar on top recently.

Someone stole my fucking hard drive out of my personal computer at work... THAT is how nuts everything has been. I barely see wifey, I'm trying to gear up for Lolla, and trying to make ends meet in the mean time.

But I must keep going because you, the Arcadian masses, deserve new music.

FIRST THING IS THE DOPEST FREE MIX I'VE GOTTEN MY HANDS ON IN A MINUTE. "Why", you ask? Because it isn't just fucking banger after banger after banger that just came out 30 seconds ago from some random dude that lives two floors below Drop The Lime. This is a nicely paced, well chosen, very summery set of tracks that you can throw on in just about any situation. It also seems to bounce through like 5 genres without the listener even noticing. And who did it? My boy Mackaveli that's who! You know he's about some serious business too because he has some songs here I didn't even know existed! Seriously though? With all the stress I've been under, this mix really helped me relax and get a smile on my face... shit, I never thought I'd want to ever hear Paul Johnson's "Get Get Down" ever again (come on, I'm from the Midwest, we got pummeled with that one, it's not that it's not a good song!) Got me tapping my foot too... pass this one around kids...

1. Roy Davis Junior - Gabriel
2. Burial - Archangel (Boy 8 Bit remix)
3. Smoking Beats - Dreams
4. Paul Johnson - Get Get Down
5. Double 99 - RIP Groove
6. Ron Carroll - Nike Song (Bart B More remix)
7. Samim feat Big Bully - The Lick (Derrick Carter Dub)
8. Drums of Death - Breathe (Curses remix)
9. Zombie Disco Squad - Straight Boy
19. Worthy - Les Tard
11. Jesse Rose & Oliver $ - Wake Up
12. Jennifer Cardini & Shonky - Tuesday Paranoia (James Jones Submerged House Mix)
13. Louie Austen - Hoping (Herberts High Dub)
14. Mystery Jets - 2 Doors Down (Duke Dumont Reconstruction)

Second thing I wanna get to you guys isn't even British... but it's awesome. For those of you who missed out there was a fancy email thread recently that went on FOREVER and pissed off a lot of people that said "MGMT vs JUSTICE" that was sent by Discobelle. A bunch of people went on a 'Reply To All' frenzy and people who get their email on their phones went nuts. Because some people in the blogging community want to talk to each other, multiple forums were created to keep that chain letter alive. Then MGMT's label or something started to send people C&D's to take the track down. I think I can get away with this though because it's not actually that remix. Former Arcadia featured remixers ddpesh brought the pain by putting Big Poppa himself over this fantastic remix.

LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST... it appears Maddecent's blog threw the goods out for everyone and hooked us up with a wicked Burial remix from Boy 8 Bit. Normally I don't repost stuff like this once it's gotten around... but it's good, and frankly, at the moment that's reason enough to post it . Man, I really want to hear more shit out of him. Every remix he's done has been fire in my opinion.

Burial- "Archangel (Boy 8 Bit's Simple Remix)"

Andddddddd... Just to throw a couple more goodies in... Here's the new video from Neon Neon "I Told Her On Alderran/Trick For Treat"... shame Spank Rock isn't in the video... Boom Bip is though...

Esser's new video for his single "Headlock"...

I don't have a lot of shit on hand... I've been working so much I haven't been keeping contact with my people so I haven't been getting a lot of tracks I can post (but thank you to those of you who got me tracks I can't post! They're all awesome)...

Quick mention... Stanton Warriors (who I saw in Miami last year and were fucking amazing) are releasing........ STANTON SESSIONS VOL 3!

"Coming off the back of an absolutely mental worldwide tour schedule we thought it was the right time to drop another Stanton Sessions comp. It’s going to be the 3rd instalment of the series and contain all the unique tracks, edits and remixes that define our sound today. We have been playing and running our Sessions nights successfully at fabric for 8 years now, so it seems only natural to continue this partnership with the release of Stanton Sessions Volume 3."

Fuck yeah... I'm not big on breaks, but Stanton Warriors are so much more than that, they're on some whole other shit... Ok. Hopefully this will tide you guys over for a few more days. Let me hit up the PR people, the labels, and dig through the crates a little.

P.s. I'm getting ready for Lolla and a whole lot of fun... you going?

Trevor Lovey's remixes "City of Lights"

They call it many things. Fidgethouse and stuff like that. Whatever, who cares.

All I know it that it sounds fucking awesome and all those dudes who are part of Machines Don't Care have been ruling my iPod for about a year (I gotta ask though, were Switch and Diplo too busy working together to get in on that MDC album? Because then it really would have been like Superfriends). Trevor Loveys (of Speakerjunk and MDC fame) has done a wicked wicked remix for you folks for a band called City Reverb...

City Reverb- "City of Lights (Trevor Loveys Vocal Mix)"

It's getting a proper release on the 8th of September. Might want to check out some more at www.myspace.com/cityreverb (which by the way includes a free download of a Prins Thomas remix). Of course also check out Mr Loveys Myspace over at www.myspace.com/trevorloveys.

This song is so good you're going to be hearing it still a year from now. Seriously. Here's more info on who you're listening to.

City Reverb are Chris Coco, Micky Bucherri, Nick Cornu, Adam Barry and Lew West

‘City of Lights’ will be released on CD and 12”. Other remixers of the track include Reverso 68, Prins Thomas, Dr Strangelove and Larry Fives

The track is the second single from the album ‘Lost City Folk’, which is released on 15th September. Chris describes it the album’s genre as “Robot Soul”

This summer the band have already played at Glastonbury Festival and will be also gracing the stages of Bestival, Green Man Festival and Camp Bestival

Upcoming live dates:
19th July: Camp Bestival, Dorset
1st August: Late At Tate Modern, London
2-3rd August: Stella Polaris, Denmark
15th August: Green Man Festival, Wales
5th September: Bestival, Isle of Wight

I gotta run to work... offset that small bit of "peace of mind" I got two weeks ago. Be back soon. Stay tuned.

...And we're back! Married I might add :)

So I am a husband.

Wowzers.

We had an awesome ceremony in the middle of the woods, (mostly) close friends and family, and very little drama. The whole thing went perfectly... I mean you couldn't ask for more. I swear. A total dream the whole way through.

Now I'm back to being piss poor broke, and life sucks more than it did during that magical weekend, but at least I've got Aqua Teen Hunger Force Vol 5, a Wii, and a wife!!! Good old wedding presents and wifey :)

A TIP FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO INTEND ON GETTING MARRIED SOONER OR LATER: Take a fucking honeymoon IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE WEDDING. You're a fool not to. If you REALLY love this person, once you've married them you're going to want to be around them non-stop, be with them all day long, and bathe in that perfect feeling that comes from putting that ring on. Don't be a dumbass like me and resume your job on Tuesday. It's an awful idea. Also make sure you balance your bank account or you'll lose all your DVDs to CD Warehouse... just helpful hints!

Sooooo... the inbox was mostly congrats and not really posting material while I was out but I going to cram it all together and hope that the info comes pouring back in. Being away a week in the blogosphere is a big deal!

Ok ok ok ok... before I get to the first band... I gotta give some face time to my boys The Black Ghosts. Black Ghosts are family on this blog so I wanted to let you guys know they had two FREE downloadable bundles out recently. Personally? When a band I like gives me free shit, and I like that free shit? I buy their album. Even if I already have all the songs. I mean, you wouldn't not pay your friend the musician for his songs just because you already had them if he was putting out a cd would you? I'd hope not! IF so stop reading my blog! But seriously, they have given you, me, us a lot and we should show our support... show that the blogosphere works and that giving away free tracks HELPS not HURTS? Agreed? Agreed.

HERE IS THE NEWEST BLACK GHOSTS BUNDLE OF FREE TRACKS! PICK UP THEIR NEW SELF TITLED PERFECT FUCKING ALBUM!

And just to be nice here's bundle two with the really good b-side tracks...

Black Ghosts B-Sides Bundle Two... but SERIOUSLY BUY THE ALBUM PLEASE! These are Arcadia's friends!

Ok... enough of that... back to the music :)

This first band sounds like Klaxons with Alex Turner's brother singing Muse's "Knights Of Cydonia" after putting Ennio Morricone's soundscapes together with Dick Dale's guitar work, mashing them up in a blender, and turning up the "heavy guitar" knob. I usually am very disappointed by what comes across the inbox that doesn't come from the usual suspects but I really fucking like The Bookhouse Boys. It's good shit. Have they been in NME yet? Because if not I'm going to feel like talent scout of the year posting these guys up!

The Bookhouse Boys- "Dead"

The Bookhouse Boys- "Dead"

They are on Black Records. They are finishing off their album, getting it mastered, putting the artwork together, and readying it for release on the 18th of August. They are also doing a few festivals over the summer, and putting out another single (as well as a video too). Keep your eye out for all that. I think these guys should be part of the Arcadian family don't you?

Speaking of Arcadian family... Late of the Pier are fucking sweet. Zarcorp Demos are burned into my ears forever and I'm like a junkie awaiting a fix with this new album. Parlophone is all about hooking us up with videos so I guess that'll tide us over until the Erol Alkan produced megaton bomb that is their debut comes out...

Late Of The Pier- "Heartbeat (Video Stream)"

I blew my interview with them. School or something. I just got busy back then. Kash, and Metronomy too. And Gary Libertines, and Drew Shamles... and the every elusive Dot Allison. Gotta hustle all that back into existence. What's up Parlophone? I had to buy my own Radiohead "Best Of" on vinyl... you gonna help me out? Lolololol...

I can't forget to mention some serious fireeeeeeee coming from Man Like Me with this joint "Carny". It's just bonkers rave grime awesomeness and I highly recommend it. Prestel has been bringing the jams for fucking real. I loved that (non-British) Romanthony so much a couple months back I had to post it. That's a label that knows what they are doing. Check out the Myspace above and maybe we'll get a track up here soon?!?!

Lastly... PARDON MY DUST... I'm redoing the site and that's taking me a little while. Working, marriage, bills all that... they come before the site. So let me get some of that sorted out and you'll get the fancy layout you've always wanted!

Here's a funny parting note...

Please help make me some money by joining eMusic and making me $6. I'm really broke and I could use the help so that I have more time to post. Thanks guys and I'll see you soon.

Speaking of broke... do any of you Chicago folk have a place a could stay or shower for Lollapalooza? I'm supposed to be interviewing Foals I would like to have clean clothes on when that happens lol...
